Another week, another festival. Singapore has no shortage of fun activities for kids – we’ve already witnessed the Nickelodeon Fiesta last weekend and the ongoing i Light Marina Bay. This year’s Children’s Festival kicked off with a dino theme at Gardens by the Bay last Friday and runs until 2 April 2017. We highlight five things to check out.
1. Hear life-size dinosaurs roar to life
Go back in time 65 million years ago when dinosaurs walked the earth! Nestled among the towering tree structures of the Supertree Grove are colourful, life-size LED dinosaurs. Marvel at them as they come to live before your eyes! Tip: go at night when the dinosaurs are lit up – they make for a striking sight against the illuminated trees and the night sky.
Daily, 10.00am – 9.00pm. Supertree Grove.
2. Help some dinosaur friends find their missing eggs
Embark on a dinosaur egg hunt around the Gardens and help Brachy and Friends find their missing colours and eggs! Complete the trail to redeem a prize at the Prize Collection Booth.
Daily, 10.00am – 9.00pm. Supertree Grove, Children’s Garden.
3. Step into A World of Wonder
Enter a magical garden where the different worlds of Wizardry, Magic, Cosmic Space, Ocean, Adventure, and Dinosaurs collide and unfold to music inspired by the various worlds. Be swept away by special renditions of songs from movies like The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio by local acts like Benjamin and Narelle Kheng of The Sam Willows, in a whimsical edition of Garden Rhapsody.
Daily, 7.45pm – 8.00pm, 8.45pm – 9.00pm. Supertree Grove.
4. Go on the fun carnival rides
Tired of walking? Rest your legs and buckle down for a carnival ride instead! Bounce your worries away at the Inflatable Bounce, get your competitive streak on at the Carpet Bumper Boat, and have a wheely good time at the Ferris Wheel.
Daily, 10.00am – 9.00pm, 3.00pm – 7.00pm (Inflatable Bounce). Supertree Grove.
5. Make and dig up your own dinosaur fossil
Fancy yourself a dinosaur expert? Make a beeline for this workshop conducted by The Learning Lab. For $20, you’ll get to make your own fossils and dig it up like a real palaeontologist! Registration is on-site and is limited to 20 participants.
