It’s a long weekend with no work on Monday – that means one whole day to recover from the holiday feasting. While we’re sure your schedule is packed with Christmas parties and dinners to attend, make time for some of these events, with the kids in tow of course.
Countdown to Christmas at an ice rink
How’s this for a Christmas countdown? Bundle up in winter wear and show off your ice skating moves at The Rink’s Foamy Winter Christmas night. Have a taste of winter as you draw figure eights under the softly falling snow. We can’t think of anywhere else we’d rather be as the clock strikes midnight.

Witness a young orphan girl fulfil her dream of becoming a ballerina
Amid the deluge of holiday children’s movies clamouring for attention, Ballerina piqued our interest with its enchanting fairytale premise. Set in 1879, it tells the story of an orphan girl who leaves her rural hometown of Brittany for the bright lights of Paris to train as a ballerina. Yep, it’s bound to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, just in time for Christmas.
Ballerina opens 22 Dec 2016 in mainstream cinemas.
Bid farewell to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station on Christmas Day
Come 25 December, the iconic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will open its doors one last time before it closes for redevelopment. It will reopen in 2025 with part of the station integrated with the upcoming Cantonment station as part of expansion plans on the Circle Line. Take a trip down memory lane with a special exhibition on the history and heritage of the station and share your memories of it by leaving notes and photos.
For a small donation, you can hop on a Choo Choo Train that will take you around the station – we foresee lots of kids excitedly lining up for this! And while you’re enjoying the festive season, spare a thought for the less fortunate by donating new and used books and toys at a charity drive organised by Community Chest. Other activities include a Christmas market and jazz performances in the evening.
