Parents, you’re in luck this weekend with a bumper crop of fun things to do. Take a trip across the Causeway to Legoland Malaysia, walk with dinosaurs at Gardens by the Bay and be blown away by magic tricks and death-defying stunts.
Have a dino-rrific time at Gardens by the Bay
Children’s Festival returns to Gardens by the Bay and they’ve got exciting dino-centric activities lined up! Go on a “dye-nosaurus” hunt, check out the live performances, workshops, crafts, carnival rides and games. In keeping with the theme, there’s even a live orchestra performance of music from Jurassic Park courtesy of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra!

Soak in the arts at a neighbourhood near you
Art initiative Arts for All is bringing the arts to the heartland this March, and we’ve highlighted a trio of events this weekend that are sure to delight children and adults alike. First up is a performance by theatre company Sweet Tooth featuring larger-than-life characters, music and plenty of surprises. Feel free to wander in and out of Curious Houses where you can bond with your child over craft activities.
Next is WoW! Wayang by Sri Warisan, a shadow play performance that incorporates gamelan music as stories are acted out on a projection screen. Get up close to the wayang kulit puppets used and try out the various puppets for yourself! Lastly, bond with your family over fun and interactive activities at a special one-day pop-up playground. Bring out your inner child with giant play canvases, a photo booth and build your own play space out of recycled materials.

Celebrate all things Nickelodeon at a carnival
For two days, Clarke Quay will be transformed into a carnival for the Nickelodeon Fiesta, a lively bash featuring childhood and carnival games with a Nickelodeon twist. Highlights include a Nickelodeon Hunt that takes you around Clarke Quay, stage games, and a meet-and-greet with your favourite cartoon characters like Spongebob Squarepants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There’ll be limited edition Nickelodeon collectibles to be won as well.

Create a watercolour painting
Budding painters will surely love this watercolouring class conducted by artist Hidayah Ros. In this 45 minute session, your child will learn to dabble in watercolours and create a painting. All materials are provided and registration opens 30 minutes before the start of each session.

Be blown away by a thrilling night of magic, illusions and stunts
Daredevils and thrill seekers, you definitely don’t want to miss ‘IMPOSSIBLE’, dubbed “the greatest magic show on earth”! Hailing from the UK, the show features six performers performing death-defying stunts, breathtaking illusions and up-close sleight of hand magic that will blow your mind.

The annual Sports Hub Community Play Day is back with a fun-filled line-up of activities guaranteed to get your family active and moving! Water ports, dragon boat races, a bouncy inflatable zone and carnival games are just some of the things you can look forward to. It’s free admission so be sure to drop by for your workout!

Train your child to be an entrepreneur
If you’re looking to groom an entrepreneurial streak in your kids, consider signing them up for Sentosa KidZ Flea. It aims to expose your kids to the basics of business through a hands-on approach that imparts financial management skills, product display knowledge and customer service. There’s also an altruistic element to it as participants are encouraged to donate part of their earnings to charity at the end of each day. Great for children aged seven to 12 years.

Groove to live music at a park in Jurong
Get set for another weekend of fun and music with the first NParks Concert Series in the Park: Rockestra for 2017! Held in conjunction with the inaugural Jurong Arts & Music Fest (JAMfest), it’s taking place at Jurong Lake Gardens (Chinese garden), Dragon Phoenix Court. Look forward to crowd-pleasing favourites like Gentle Bones, Shirlyn & The Unexpected, and take part in the arts booths and other fringe activities.
