The school holidays are in full swing and if you’re looking for fun things to do with the kids, check out these exciting events. From Pokémon hunting at Changi Airport to an arts festival, it’s going to be a busy weekend.

Indulge in Pokémon mania at Changi Airport

With the release of Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and The Mechanical Marvel, it’s safe to say Pokémon fever isn’t dying down any time soon. If you can’t get enough of the adorable pocket monsters, head to Changi Airport where a Pokémon-themed Christmas celebration is underway. Check out the giant Pikachu at the Terminal 3 Departure Hall; there’ll be opportunities to meet Pikachu on weekends in December.

Pokémon trainers, snap a picture with each of the 26 Pokémon located around the airport and upload it to social media for a chance to win exclusive Pokémon merchandise. Your kids will love the Christmas trees decorated with the cuddly Pokémon plush toys. You can also catch a dazzling lights show and purchase plushies at $9.90 each with a minimum spend.

Jump in a disco ball pit, catch a light projection show and interact with artworks

The National Gallery Singapore turns one and they’re celebrating by throwing a birthday bash over two weekends. If you missed out on the last weekend, this weekend is your last chance to partake in the Light to Night Festival. Highlights include a light projection show which will transform the Gallery’s façade into a colourful canvas, interactive light installations that change colour when touched and a Disco Ball Pit filled with balls – adults, you’re welcome to join in the fun with your kids.

For the little ones, there are film screenings, live sketching and an enchanting Balloon Forest. In additional, there’ll be parent-child workshops on coding and virtual reality. Art, tech and family bonding in one place – it doesn’t get better than that.

Sing and dance along to songs at the Hi-5 Fairytale show

Your favourite Hi-5 characters are back and this time they’re bringing fairytales to life – with a special Hi-5 twist! This theatrical extravaganza promises to wow audiences with exciting stories of brave princes, sleepy princesses, fearsome dragons and dastardly pirates. Be intrigued by the tales and join the Hi-5 gang for a weekend of song and dance for the whole family!

Explore the Sungei Buloh wetlands

Organised by NParks, this one-day Young Naturalist Camp is the perfect reason to tear your kids away from their devices and get them outdoors. They’ll get to learn about the wetlands and nature conservation issues through indoor and outdoor learning – think worksheets, nature walks and hands-on activities.
