It’s a jam-packed weekend with an outdoor festival in the civic district, a LEGO art exhibition, a family carnival and more.

Check out the Civic District Outdoor Festival
The first Civic District Outdoor Festival happens this weekend, transforming the area with art installations, an art market, food stalls, live and roving performances and tours. Go on a light projection trail of the National Gallery and other arts institutions, jot down your dreams on a flower petal and lepark to the Padang for a picnic!

5 & 6 August 2017, 5 – 11pm, Civic District. Click here to find out more.

Get sporty at the inaugural Singapore Children’s Games
Also making its debut this weekend is the Singapore Children’s Games, a multi-sport competition for children aged four to eight. You can look forward to football and basketball games, static and dynamic activities that assess your child’s fundamental movement skills, and a fun parent-child relay challenge.

5 August 2017, 9am – 7pm, Singapore Sports Hub. For more information and to register, click here.

View LEGO versions of UNESCO World Heritage Sites
To mark 50 years of ASEAN, the Piece of Peace exhibition features 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites built from LEGO! View world famous landmarks like the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. Singapore’s very own Botanic Gardens is also featured, alongside creations from eight other Southeast Asian countries. Build your favourite Singapore structure at the Bricks by Bricks SG section, and let your child experience the magic of different cities at the Duplo + Cities of Wonder kid’s play zone.

From now until 3 September 2017, 10am – 3pm (morning session) and 3pm – midnight (afternoon session), Fort Canning Arts Centre. Visit the Facebook page for more information and get your tickets here.

Have a family day out at a fun carnival
Celebrate National Day at family carnival PlayLAH!, which is back with three days of workshops, games and activities across four zones: Play, Learn, Eat and Bond. Highlights include bouncy inflatables and mazes, a Newater booth by PUB, local food and beverage options to keep hunger pangs at bay and hands-on activities such as handicraft, painting and lantern-making workshops for the whole family.

4 – 6 August 2017, noon – 9pm, Singapore Expo Hall 5. Find out more here.

Celebrate National Day at Gardens by the Bay
Mark our nation’s 52th birthday by getting active! Bond with family and friends over a mass walk and a dance fitness party at Gardens by the Bay. Start the day with a morning workout and a 2km walk through the Gardens and keep those endorphins high with a musical dance party after. Don red and white sportswear to get in the spirit of National Day!

5 August 2017, 8.15am – 7pm, Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay. Find out more here.

Witness the beauty of orchids
The birthday festivities continue with Orchid Extravaganza, also on at Gardens by the Bay. The flower exhibition uses the motif of a butterfly’s life cycle to tell the story of Singapore – think a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis – with the landscape depicting the stages of its growth. Look out for a sculpture of 52 butterflies shaped like Singapore, created by award-winning garden designer Peter Cheok.

From now until 20 August 2017, 9am – 9pm, Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. Find out more about it here.
